Environmental & Social Governance

We are committed to taking responsible action to create a more sustainable world for our people and planet.

This means we actively foster and promote Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) measures across all our activities. Our mission is to create a ripple effect where our positive actions spread outwards and inspire other organisations to champion their ESG cause.

Environmental Objectives

Forge Technologies is committed to environmentalism in all aspects of our operations. We strive to minimise environmental impacts by planning and executing our operations in an environmentally sensitive manner. Every member of our team is dedicated to fulfilling our legal obligations, conserving natural resources, preventing pollution, and eliminating environmental hazards associated with our operations. To ensure we meet these commitments, an Environmental Management System is established to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO14001:2015.

Environmental Management is implemented through the Integrated Management System (IMS), which is mandatory in its application. However, its success can only be achieved by the participation and commitment of everyone at Forge Technologies. All persons working with and for our organisation will receive full support to ensure the IMS is understood, implemented, and maintained throughout.

Our environmental objectives are:

Maintain awareness of and comply with appropriate environmental legislation, regulations and accepted standards and codes of practice.

Meet customer and interested parties stated and/or perceived environmental expectations by the prevention of pollution and the provision of IT Managed Services.

Minimise the environmental impact of operations through reinvestment in new techniques, employee training, and adoption of the most environmentally friendly ways of undertaking our work.

Continually review and monitor all aspects of the company’s activities to identify opportunities for implementing environmental performance improvement.

Ensure that this policy and its supporting processes are understood by and communicated within the organisation.

IT Asset Disposal (ITAD)

Many of the solutions we offer our clients involve replacing existing hardware. Previously, much of this hardware ended up in landfills, causing environmental damage, wasting materials, and posing the risk of chemical leaks. We can avoid this scenario through a strategic partnership using IT Asset Disposal (ITAD). We maximise the value of redundant IT equipment while preventing technology from ending up in landfills.

The first step is to identify opportunities to refurbish or remanufacture equipment. The work starts by ensuring data destruction and then determining whether there is value in repurposing hardware for resale or spare parts. If repurposing is not feasible, the materials will be recycled. Recycling and data destruction services provided by our partner comply with WEEE regulations and surpass current environmental and data protection laws.

Upon arrival at the facility, each piece of equipment is inventoried. A complete and auditable record of the asset’s journey tracks whether it is resold, broken down to component level, or reutilised as raw material in manufacturing. Where equipment can be resold, the value can be shared with our client or donated to a charitable cause.

Remote Work & Travel Policy

Forge Technologies’ team embrace the benefits of a virtual workspace, with no central office location. Being a fully remote team has great environmental advantages.

Without the need for a traditional office, there is no requirement to power and heat a physical location or acquire IT equipment, furniture, fittings, and other necessary equipment, minimising our carbon footprint.

Additionally, it encourages a paperless, digital-first approach, with documents stored and shared remotely, eliminating the need for printers.

Our teams don’t need to commute daily, reducing the need to travel on roads and trains.

When travel is necessary, we encourage team members to utilise public transport.

While face-to-face meetings offer huge value, we have regionalised our hiring strategy for each team.

This allows us to benefit from a wide pool of talent across the country, without being fixed to a single location, but with easy train connections to remote office locations.

Forge Technologies Social Measures

Social Measures

Our Focus on Our People

At Forge Technologies, people always come first. We offer employment opportunities that create an inclusive, diverse workplace. Our efforts extend beyond the workplace, as our goal is to help our team members recognise the impact their individual contributions can have in making the world a better place. This means we encourage and empower our team to strive for excellence, both in the workplace and at home.

Our Charity Work

We believe in the power of giving back. Each year, the team participates in one charity event to maximise our impact and engage our team. At the start of each year, the team has an opportunity to submit recommendations for our charity partner of the year. Our Charity Committee, with input from the greater team, reviews the submissions to identify our charity partner for the year. This way, we can support a wide range of causes across the breadth of the UK and focus on causes that are close to the hearts of the people we work closely with.

In 2023, we partnered with Ashgate Hospice, which provides support for those suffering from life-limiting illnesses. Ten members of the Forge team bravely participated in the Three Peaks Challenge, trekking 23 miles (37km) with a total ascent of 3064 meters in 24 hours. The team raised £5,888 for Ashgate Hospice and raised awareness through social media to gain additional support.

In addition to our main charity partner for the year, we strongly encourage and support other charity efforts, including taking time away from work to volunteer with local causes through volunteering days. We also focus on friendly competition to encourage the team to make small donations to participate, such as our January Step Challenge. The team competed to gain the most steps for the prize of pride to start the year, with donations made to local causes.

We work closely with our key strategic technology partners, to extend our support. This has seen us complete joint charity events such as the 30-mile sponsored walk around London’s Football Stadiums supporting Barnardo’s. Working with our Managed Print Partner, Aura, we were able to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Diversity & Supporting Women in Tech

At Forge Technologies, we are proud to support women in our workplace, where nearly 40% of our colleagues are female. Through our outlined priorities, we are committed to contributing to the ongoing journey toward a gender-equal world:

  • Embed equality in our corporate culture and advocate colleagues and partners to do the same
  • Support diversity recruitment, talent retention and leadership development
  • Promote a gender-inclusive and diverse workforce by challenging stereotypes

Our Apprenticeship Scheme

We firmly believe that apprenticeships serve as a crucial bridge, equipping individuals with a diverse array of skills, and preparing them for the demands of their professional careers.

That’s why we are committed to nurturing talent through our comprehensive apprenticeship programs. Currently, we are actively engaged in mentoring three internal apprentices, while also managing an external apprentice on behalf of one of our esteemed clients. This level of involvement underscores our dedication to shaping individuals beyond the confines of our own projects. Our approach is centred on providing extensive coaching, personalised mentoring, and unwavering support to foster the growth and development of our apprentices within and beyond the boundaries of our organisation.
