Forge Technologies re-platformed the leading online car competition company’s proposition on Microsoft Azure to improve scalability, resilience, and user experience.
The Activity
The Forge Technologies team conducted a thorough review of the eCommerce and CRM architecture and design of the system, keeping in mind the brief requirements. They focused on the highly available capabilities offered by the newly launched Microsoft Azure, in order to leverage technology advancements. In collaboration with a third-party external design and usability agency, along with the business stakeholders, the team worked towards ensuring that the proposed solution would result in an intuitive, rapid response and seamless user experience for the exclusively web-based client base.
Speed and ease of use were critical factors to maximise the number of competition entries, representing a measurable conversion of prospect to sales. To incorporate Microsoft Azure PaaS capabilities and Umbraco content management, the team redeveloped substantial parts of the original website while utilising existing components.
The core front-end was built using a combination of ASP.Net core MVC (integrated into Umbraco) and client user technologies to provide the richest User Interface experience and intuitive search capabilities. The back-end CRM platform was built using ASP.Net core and Azure SQL, providing a highly available and intuitive back-end experience, with the reporting engine solution written to analyse and interrogate the data being generated.
The CMS was implemented using a combination of Umbraco CMS images, videos, and specifications, with back-end catalogue systems stored in Azure SQL. In addition, the Forge Technologies team project managed the delivery and deployment of the new platform, which included providing key resources such as development, solution architecture, testing, sprint management, and business analysis, alongside the onsite team function.
