G-Cloud 14 is the latest iteration of the UK Government’s G-Cloud framework, launched on 29 October, 2024, and set to run until April 28, 2026. This framework is designed to facilitate the procurement of cloud services by public sector organisations, providing a streamlined digital marketplace where they can easily access a variety of cloud-based solutions, including cloud hosting, cloud software, and cloud support services.
One of the key features of G-Cloud 14 is its wide accessibility, allowing all public sector bodies, such as central government, local authorities, charities, and health services, to benefit from its offerings. Approximately 90% of the suppliers in this framework are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which promotes competition and innovation within the public sector.
The framework emphasises cost-effectiveness, enabling organisations to procure off-the-shelf, pay-as-you-go solutions that can lead to significant savings. Additionally, G-Cloud 14 simplifies the procurement process, allowing quick access to necessary services without the lengthy tendering procedures typically associated with public sector contracts. New assessments of suppliers’ economic and financial standing provide greater assurance regarding their stability. At the same time, flexible contracting options allow for initial terms of up to 36 months, with the possibility of a 12-month extension.
