Today marks International Women’s Day 2024, an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women around the globe and accelerate gender equality. At Forge Technologies, we are proud to support women in our workplace – nearly 40% of our colleagues are female. Through the following priorities, we are committed to helping forge a gender equal world:
Embed equality in our culture and advocate colleagues and partners to do the same
Support diversity recruitment, retention and leadership development
Promote a gender-inclusive and diverse workforce by challenging stereotypes
For this International Women’s Day, we wanted to feature some of the wonderful women who work at Forge Technologies. Tying into this year’s theme #InvestInWomen, we asked ourfemale colleagues to share their career advice for other women as they pursue careers in tech. Here’s what they had to say…
“Be willing to be flexible.” – Vicky Moxon, Head of Operations
“Embrace empathy. Put people first, listen to their voice, and champion teamwork. One person alone cannot possess all knowledge or abilities but in thriving as a team, you can achieve great things.” – Nicola Whitney, Customer Experience Manager
“Don’t be afraid to embrace the unique perspectives and views that make you different; you don’t have to act like everyone else in the room to be good at what you do and be respected.” – Zoe Holland, Project Manager
“Take risks and grasp every opportunity, even if they seem daunting… if in doubt ask yourself: What’s the best that can happen? ” – Shannon Griffiths, Business Development Associate
“A “Yes” without consideration is not a yes at all.”
For yourself this means you always need be sure you’ve thought enough to know what you are saying yes to, and for others they can only say yes if they understand what they are saying yes to. This means you have to create an environment where you are confident to challenge and to be challenged by others. – Martha Mohon, Business Analyst
“Never underestimate the power of effective communication. Express your ideas clearly and assertively. Actively listen to others with empathy, ask questions and contribute thoughtfully to discussions. It will bring positive impact to every conversation you have!” – Jessica Walker, Business Development Associate
“Surround yourself with good people who will challenge, inspire and support you and aim to be that person for those around you.” – Claire Osmond, Executive Assistant
“Always embrace a good work ethic. Nothing helps you gain respect quicker than that. The best way to reflect a strong work ethic is by being responsible, reliable and respectful. It will take you further than you think. “ – Mira Valjakka, Head of Marketing
“Believe in your ability to succeed and never be afraid to speak out. Your unique prospective is invaluable.” – Imogen Barrett, Account Manager
Every day, we are inspired by the phenomenal women around us. As we continue to embrace diversity and recognise our female talent, we help accelerate progress and innovation.
Happy International Women’s Day to all the wonderful women!
