Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I currently live a little outside of London, but I’m very much a city person at heart. Before living where I am I was in Birmingham for university and was in the London area before that.
Outside of work I’m a big reader and play a lot of games, both video and tabletop, so have taste for all things sci-fi and fantasy. I also enjoy painting, mainly miniatures, but expanding my skills to new mediums is something I’ve always wanted to do. Listening to music and painting is my way of decompressing, and something I find very relaxing.
What did you do before joining Forge?
Before I worked at Forge, I spent time working on my council’s digital team, and had some experience in a marketing position before that.
What drew you to work in tech?
I’ve always had an interest in tech and have been surrounded by it for a lot of my life. From childhood I have been playing video games and have branched off that to a passion for tech, always intrigued by the new releases and developments in the world of tech.
What do you enjoy most from being part of the Forge team?
At Forge I feel like a valued and important part of a team. Everyone here is allowed to have input, and their opinions are valued. Forge really value the people who work for them to do their jobs and trust them and their opinions. It’s a place which encourages hard work but also good work, and striving to push yourself further, and improve upon yourself. That’s something I value.
What does an ideal workday look like for you?
An ideal workday for me would be a mixture of working on our social media platforms, learning new techniques that I can use to help further both myself and our social content, studying analytics, and performing tasks to help the company increase their presence.
What about your ideal day off?
My ideal day off would be one of two days, for one in the morning would be painting some miniatures to attempt to finish off my collection, while listening to some music, and then in the afternoon and evening would be playing games with my friends either online or in person. The other would be on holiday with my friends exploring a new city and visiting interesting places.
What one piece of tech has changed your life?
The piece of tech which has just changed my life would be the internet. I have met people from all over the world and have friends in different countries I talk to near daily. It has allowed me to find communities all over, introduced me to new passions, and kept me connected to friends I normally might have lost contact with. It has also shaped my work life, so not only has it massively influenced my personal life but working in digital has become the start of my career. It has shaped a large amount of my life.
What industry trend do you think will shape the future?
AI and machine learning feel like the obvious trends that will shape the future, but automation will massively change the way humans live, I think. Things such as self-driving cars and airplanes aren’t far away from commercial use and could be the next big push into the future. Automation in many industries like transportation, food services, healthcare, and others could massively transform the way we live.
