Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I live in the lovely seaside city of Portsmouth – I love to live by the sea because I’m a fan of water sports. Before moving to Portsmouth in 2020, I spent 4 years in Manchester, and got my degree there. Then in 2018 I lived in China for a while before re-locating to Portsmouth.
In my spare time I do stand-up comedy, which is a great skill to have when you work in sales. My hobby is talking to people and so is my day job, how lucky am I!
What did you do before joining Forge?
I worked in the technology industry before Forge, I was working for a technology hardware company. Before that I was an international jetsetter that lived in the sunny part of southern China, working as an English teacher.
What drew you to work in tech?
It’s an interesting industry and getting to work with technology is great. Technology is a massive part of the human journey going forward. Working within the tech boom is interesting because you get to see how it all changes, how fast things grow, and being a part of that is thrilling.
What do you enjoy most from being part of the Forge team?
We have a good team atmosphere, we all work together as a team and if you need guidance, there’s always someone to help expertly guide you. Learning from people who really know what they’re talking about is such a fantastic aspect of the job. I especially love that everyone communicates well, and that everyone is treated like an individual.
I think it’s great that we do charity work, like the 3 Peaks Challenge, which we are doing in September. It’s really good to do things for people less fortunate, and it’s also a great team bonding exercise. It helps you get to really know the people you’re working with… plus it will help me burn off all the burgers and pizzas I eat.
What does an ideal workday look like for you?
One with loads of meetings! A day where I can meet with lots of customers and help them with all their tech needs. A day where I can achieve my goals.
What about your ideal day off?
A day which is filled with lots of fun. Whether that is swimming in the sea, or going out and doing a comedy gig, or going on a day trip to somewhere I’ve never been. As long as it’s fun, and as long as I’m doing something, that’s my ideal day off.
What one piece of tech has changed your life?
That’s a difficult question because there’s so many things. Probably my mobile phone. It’s got so much on it that I use it every day, from my calculator, to messaging, to the internet.
What industry trend do you think will shape the future?
Cloud computing continues to grow as more businesses migrate their operations to the cloud. Many people are hesitant to stair their cloud migration journey, even though it offers a number of benefits like scalability, cost-effectiveness, and improved collaboration, enabling organisations to focus on core competencies. It’s great talking to people who have doubts, taking them on that journey and showing them the other side.
