Next up in our Meet the Team series is Vicky Moxon, our Head Of Operations, who without we wouldn’t be able to deliver on all of the important services we offer. Vicky and her team don’t just manage operations but optimise services, making sure that we give our clients the best quality service we possibly can.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I was born in the UK and moved as a baby to South Africa where I spent most of my childhood years. I returned to the UK as a teenager with my parents and have pretty much lived in Milton Keynes ever since. I have a son called Mitchell (Mitch) who is an entrepreneur owning two successful businesses and a long-term partner called Ryan who I have been with for over 13 years.
Travel and Moto GP are my passion and I like to combine both and see as many different races and places as possible around the world
What did you do before joining Forge?
Before joining Forge, I was Global Head of Managed Services and Compliance for a cloud, design, implementation, and support services business where I was for 10 years. Before that I worked with both Jeremy and Sam and when the opportunity arose to work with them again at Forge Technologies, I jumped at it.
What drew you to work in tech?
I have always been interested in technology and when I think about how much things have changed in my lifetime it blows my mind. I grew up when the internet didn’t exist and very few people owned computers.
Now in a relatively short space of time, we pretty much all carry smart phones, have social media accounts, use smart sssistants to control our music, lights and tell us about the weather etc etc.
It’s exciting to see where the future of technology takes us. That said, whilst I have a big interest in tech, I am passionate about service delivery and customer satisfaction, and I see both as being a huge part of my role.
What do you enjoy most from being part of the Forge team?
The people, we are a small perfectly formed team of people who are all here to do our best for our customers and the business. It’s a great place to be and lovely to be back working with some colleagues of old again.
What does an ideal workday look like for you?
My ideal workday would include reviewing lots of positive customer satisfaction survey responses, working with a motivated team who feel valued and happy and onboarding new customers or kicking off new projects. I am fortunate that I do get to do all these things allot of the time. It’s a great feeling when you know that what you and the team do is help customers solve their issues and manage and improve their infrastructure solutions daily.
What about your ideal day off?
Being somewhere with blue skies and ideally a beach, good food, music, with friends and family for company. It doesn’t have to be hot but warm enough to be in shorts and t-shirt.
What one piece of tech has changed your life?
I guess I would have to say my smartphone. From satnav, to email, camera, weather, news, social media, calculator, internet, its difficult to imagine life without it.
What industry trend do you think will shape the future?
My immediate answer would have to be AI, being able to get a machine to mimic cognitive functions is both exciting and scary.
Used in the right way it will positively change our future beyond what I could ever have imagined. If we can use it to help doctors diagnose diseases more accurately and quickly and save lives, develop drugs through analysis of clinical trials and patient health and genetic records to predict how a drug might affect a person’s cells and crack down on illegal activities it can only be a good thing.
